Be great to meet sailor's and live-aboards in Eastbourne, been here 5 years now but only know friendly sailors on my pontoon.

Last year, June 2010, I did a yacht delivery and was weather bound in Eastbourne for 5 days. I didn't know anyone lived there?

All the buildings surrounding the marina look and feel as if a Neutron Bomb has killed everyone and left all the buildings standing, the place seemed so desolate! ;eek:

The Italian guy running the fish and chip shop was awful and rude.

I did enjoy chatting to the crew of the fishing boat "Royal Sovereign" and watching it scurry to its berth, just like a car following the roads in a Tesco's car park. :)

It's the cheapest marina we could find. We do not have much time to use the boat currently so it suits.

It also has a good selection of eateries and we thought the Italian guy at the chippie was a hoot:D

Everyone we have met so far has been lovely

Haha oh come on, I reckon the buildings here have slightly more character than the huge boring wall you're confronted with every morning you wake up at Brighton ;)
Maybe the place was desolate because they were all hibernating from the bad weather from which you were weather bound! :) and I agree the italian sergeant major guy is sometimes rude, he seems to have his good days and bad days, he seems quite happy to chat a bit if I strike up a cheerful conversation with him, I'm not sure how much business he makes there but I heard those shops are very expensive to rent.

We are all retired and have our boats in the Med, only there in the winter. Seriously a lot are second homes.
