Anyone heading to LIBS? if so what day?

Anyone been to Dusseldorf? I've managed to persuade the SWMBO to come out for a long weekend so we're going on the 26th for a nose! Hoping it should be a good event but not been before...

It is astonishing.

23 halls from memory. Most the size of LIBS.

2 halls for charter.

Bavaria have their own hall!

You cant really even walk it in a day.

Excellent, that sounds like a speedy route to a divorce for me then :D

Better make sure we have a day of shopping on the Friday...

D'Dorf is good, but it goodness does tend to get a little exaggerated. Yes there are lots of halls. No, they are not all individually bigger than LIBs. The whole show is about five times the floor space of one of excels halls to give you a clearer picture. Some of the many halls are dedicated to things like charter, fishing, fashion and lifestyle, so don't expect to be interested in every hall.

Having said that, there is plenty worth going for, and many exhibits that are different and interesting, although much of what you see will not have a UK dealer. I went about four years ago and am going again this year. I haven't missed it in the intermediate years, but I had London. Even without London, I would probably only go every two or three years. Despite what people say, it is not typically cheaper or easier to get to, unless you live somewhere very north and very remote. If you do go to the bother and expense of going, make sure you allow yourself at least two full days, otherwise you may not see everything unless you rush round, in which case you will miss stuff.

The real treat about Dussledorf is the outside eating areas. 23 years of sausage in the cold (and snow) I shall miss it this year. Oh well Miami it is.

+1 to what jrudge says about Boot. But, the city itself is great fun too. Good shopping and the restaurants and bars are good too. Go to one of the traditional "brauerei" for great food washed down with altbier.
