This prompted by the thread about a security camera - I'm just curious as to how much boat theft occurs? I know dinghy's and outboards are very often stolen, but has anyone here had a yacht nicked over the years?

I doubt you'll get many saying they personally have had a yacht stolen. Very rare indeed but it does happen. You used to just go to the http://www.stolenboats.org.uk/ website and see what was reported stolen, but that now requires the faff of a login. Typically it would show lots of trailer-borne speedboats and dinghies stolen, and a very few larger yachts.

Knew a bloke who rented a Westerly and 'forgot' to return it. Did some time for that. Another allowed some people to use his Loo Lugger and they kept it ;o(.

Somebody at Bucklers Hard Marina cut off my stern light a few weeks ago. Hard to imagine one boatie doing that to another because they were too tight to buy their own.

There used to be no resale value for boaty things but first boat jumbles and then the internet has created a market that makes low value stealing worthwhile. So I'm sure one boatie didn't steal it but a scrote did then a decent boatie will see a bargain on the web and snap it up.

Fair point, benefit of the doubt now given...
