I'm a bit wary now of these supposed land marks. I spent hours up on the South Downs in Sussex when I heard about 'Peggy's Bottom.' Never saw a thing, and nearly snuffed it from exposure.

Lizard is a corruption of a normalish cornish name meaning probably high court. Lys or Les fairly standard initial part of local place names. Doubt there are an unusual number of 4 legged reptiles there and never heard of any image in the cliffs, though I enjoyed climbing there long ago.

It can be very sunny round that way - wear a hat to keep brain cool if needed
