I've had a potential buyer point this out - he said it means some of the Hull has been cut out or repaired - or something like that - see photo where apparently it should all be white. The image is facing the rear.
Is this damage? Is this a serious issue? I mean if it's a result of damage then surely as the boats been running for years without an issue then this must be ok.
It was like this when I got it a few years back. I just assumed this was how it was meant to be!

Guess it comes down to the quality of the repair. What boat is it? What part of the boat does the photo show?

looks like someone has cut out the interior moulding for some reason, possibly had waterlogged foam under it?
Repair looks pretty good but we need to see the outside really. Obviously ran out of flo coat!

It's facing backwards from under the floor. I stupidly didn't get a survey done but I did test drive it. I've had it for 3 years and it's been fine. It's a Beneteau Antares 7 powerboat

You might decide to get a local surveyor to look at it - shouldn't be too expensive for a spot inspection.

Looking at the photo ... the work appears to have been well done ... its even, smooth and blended out. But as another says - its hard to comment fully without actually seeing it and both sides etc.
But OP says 3yrs in use and no problems - that in itself is good.

Here's my boat that had a serious repair required after a keel hit concrete block ... similar internal repairs etc.

Stupid - hit breakwater stones ...

Sorry I cannot load photos or the specific post in that thread - I'm travelling and my VPN won't run ... but scrolling through that thread - will show that such repairs are fine .. and if done well - should not affect value of the boat.
But of course people will use any factor to reduce price ....

My reply to any potential buyer in such circumstance would be to suggest getting a surveyor ... mmmmm and then surveyor reports in favour of client !!

If I were the buyer, I might use it to negotiate a discount, but it wouldn't frighten me. It's obviously been in there for a few years without issue, so why would it suddenly fail now? As a seller, I'd be tempted to invest in a litre of flowcoat.

In fact better might be a plain white matt bilge paint !! Paint the whole so it no longer sticks out like a sore thumb !

Maybe put a moisture meter on it?

I dunno how well they work but if there's no difference in that part of the hull (particularly around the join line) that'd be some reassurance.

OTOH if there IS a difference you'd then have to attempt to interpret it, which might be a bit tricky...

Critical part is the bonding at the join, particularly if there is a heavy outboard motor hanging on it - I would sleep better once a surveyor has looked at it.
