Anyone around Hamble point fancy checking a raggie?

Well here goes, my dad is worried about his boat, or rather it's winter cover. It is out the water in the sea ventures boat park area, next to my boat. He came round today saying he plans to drive down tomorrow to check it, being 83 years old You got to look out for the oldens - if I was free I would have driven him down, but I'm not. He is just worried that his winter cover has come lose or flapping or ripped.

His boat's name is Ta-mera.

If anyone could just have a peak, certainly do not expect anything else as having a 6 ft draft means there is no way of getting on board easily.

Fingers crossed it's ok, if not I might have to make myself very unpopular with the family and take him down tomorrow!

Give the marina a call and ask them. they are all doing extra checks and i am sure will be only to happy to put someones mind at rest!

Gwen is over at Ocean Village today or i would have asked her to have a look for you.

Thanks Howard, trouble is his winter cover is pretty precious to him, circa 18yrs old - you need an eye to spot if it's is ok, I think Ben's observation will be what he needs to put his mind at rest.
 
Bloody hell! Proper storm at Hamble Point.

Seabird is fine.

Ta-mera is fine too, the cockpit cover is in place and not ripped, but suffering a right beating and there's so much water running off its pretty weighted down, i reckon it fine. She must have cockpit drains along the waterline? There's water pouring out.

I'll check tomorrow morning too.

Wow, what more can you ask. Thank you so much Ben, a spot on report! Indeed ta-mera does have cockpit drains along the waterline! I bet it was wild down there!

I had a text from premier swanwick marina today.

They assured us they would be making extra patrols around the marina and would check on my boat.

I'd say there really prepared to go the extra mile to check my boat, in fact about 200 miles as she is now in Swansea marina!!

Ha! They certainly are!


Anyway, either that means you are doing a lot more miles in your van, or booking into a travel lodge, or not doing so much work on the south coast... Or have a new boat?

Hi james , boat was sold end of October , no new boat yet. Still working on south coast and staying in area.
 
Well a update for anyone interested, Ben very kindly gave me a update this morning, news was not good. My dad's faithful winter cover had ripped, so ditched Christmas Eve plans and shot round picked my dad up and after a couple of false starts where our route to the a3 was blocked due to fallen trees we got down to Hamble in just over an hour, took the cover off, put on regular cockpit cover, had a coffe and came home, back by 12.15pm so not all lost.

Also electrics had tripped, found another boats socket full of water so mdl staff unplugged and tripped fuse back on. These water proof sockets seem brilliant at channelling water into themselves...

We did get a call from mdl on the way down to Hamble letting us know of the damaged cover, so fair play to them.

It was still pretty wild down at Hamble point.

My sincere thanks to Ben for checking the cover so early this morning which meant we could go and do something about it first thing. You saved the day.
