How could we forget? He must have posted on every significant boating forum in the UK - and been banned from most of them.
Evidently he feels hard done by, and there may be an injustice at the root of this saga but it has become impossible to tell right from wrong. His habit of asking seemingly innocent questions and then contorting the answers to fit his arguments gained him few friends - nor did the fact that an apparently fit and healthy man was, iirc, living on benefits whilst he pursued his case.
I hate to say it, but every company lives in dread of being targetted by an obsessive with a grudge. CN may or may not have made an error of judgement in the way they handled this case originally but that doesn't justify the vitriolic campaign that he has pursued against them ever since.
I am normally sympathetic to people who have had a bum deal from fate, but I can't get worked up about this one.
I heard he was in rent arrears, so they booted him out. I also heard that the appearance of MV Picton wasn't compatible with the views of the marina management. I don't know. I only hope that the children who have no influence over this matter arer cared and catered for.
The MV Picton saga resulted in great expense to the marina, and various false allegations caused difficulty and distress to individual members of staff.

Forget? How could we? This chap is legendary! Those with a half decent memory and an honest heart can never forget the details old boy! Guernsey is small. This eviction saga has been the topic on many an evening meal I can assure you. This Family is strong in principles alright, good old fashioned strong. Quite brave in a world full of floating effluent.

There is an obvious injustice, they have lost their only family home and their entire possessions still remain seized. The whole family, their home, way of life, were treated with total contempt by Crest Nicholson, especially after they caused Picton to become grounded on the Penarth Marina floor. It’s a fact that Crest Nicholson have never disputed that they caused the accident! April 2nd 2000 wasn't it? Yes that's right, one day after the infamous Cardiff Bay was transferred to the Cardiff Harbour Authority, from the 'quango' Cardiff Bay Development Corporation.

That’s poppycock old boy and I dare to suggest you know it. It might be easier for people to do wrong nowadays, but that’s more to do with falling standards generally, in morality and ethics. It’s got nothing to do with not knowing right from wrong. Also ask yourself this. If Crest Nicholson wanted this family to fix their boat after they caused an accident to it, and that was the only issue, then why didn’t they permit them to fix it, (so the family could then leave properly ) or get on with things as they were before the accident? Why bother forcing the couple to stop paying rent or mooring fees to make it look like, or, as if, they were ‘bad’ people, trespassing on their property? It is now much more clear to see, from the family website, why they believe it was all set up by the top man in the company.

Even on this I would struggle to agree. Some mindset he must have developed after being evicted like this and treated so badly eh? There but for the grace of God?
However, with friends like this who needs enemies? I don’t recall this chap looking for friends. He told it as it was in his way. Jog on! Most of the tat I have seen posted here and elsewhere suggest to me that the average punter is already bored, brain dead, and ‘Springerfied’. Day time telly rots the brain you know? Let’s face facts. Most people couldn’t give a toss about a total stranger unless there is something in it for them. This saga made interesting debate, but it wasn’t only about boating was it? It was about a family, their home and their way of life of many years.

As I recall, fit and healthy women stay at home to run the home, they are called ‘house wife’, ‘domestic technician’ etc, so why should this geezer be any different, if that’s how he and his wife arranged things? ‘Living on benefits’, shame on you, house wives do that too! If you are against benefits, well that’s another issue old boy.
I think, and half of Guernsey agrees with me, that this chap has every right to feel hard done by. I should cocoa. Wouldn't you feel hard done by if your Family Home was totally destroyed for no other reason than, as the family state, a Crest Nicholson beauty competition? The Family website, is a bit sketchy but there is enough detail to see who got the short end of the stick, and I don't believe it was this old boy, or his poor family.

Rubbish! People don’t do this kind of thing at random for no apparent reason, and there is plenty of justifiable grievances in this case. You can not be proud of what you are ashamed of. So where is the pride of Crest Nicholson in all this? Yeah, don’t tell me….it mostly went to Quay Marinas Limited in a management buy out.

No. Crest Nicholson have ballsed the entire matter from start to date and obviously the family website remains testament to that balls-up.

Oh yes it does! I’ll have to agree to disagree old boy.

Fate! Bah! What’s that? Bah humbug old boy. It is a non sense, non starter for me. In cases such as this it is people who actually make ‘good’ and ‘bad’ things happen. It is not ‘lucky’ or ‘unlucky’. Crest Nicholson and their people did this to a family of 7, people to people, and I think it’s about time that a few people got busy sorting it out. Obviously it won’t be anyone hereabouts, shiver me timbers, there’s nothing it for us here, is there?
hey.. urm tbh, unless you have experienced a situation like this then you cannont really judge the matter. let me put this into perspective for you...
somebody caused an accident to your home.. then they tell you to move out.. then they take your home over to England and seize all of your possessions and demolish your home... sounds like justice ?.. urm not to me it doesnt!..
Not a big deal really is it..? you know.? not much of a thing to worry about.. nothing much apart from the fact that you are left homeless, with none of your possessions and expected to act like everything is okay and all that jazz?!. Honestly...some people!
in this situation, 5 children were involved. I know one of the daughters a heck of a lot more than you think, and let me tell you something sherlock.. this is no happy fairytale for that family.
its okay for some to sit back and relax in the knowledge that its someone elses problem... but then again.. we all know what kind of people they are on the inside dont we..?
All in my honest opinion and for what i know is most definately blummin right!
Remember Douglas Adams and his SEP fields?
I don't know every detail of this story, and fain would not comment too much, but the story of those bucking the trend being shafted is not unique. Conformance is easy, if stultifying, but paddling ones own canoe is increasingly difficult.
Probably not too hard to work out where I sit on this issue.
