Its been up and running for a while. Links to the Chi bar and Soton town weather stations as well as Soton Water Port Traffic. A very useful site which I have on my mobile phone as well. Nice to know what is happening in home waters especially if stuck in London.

<<A very useful site >>

I find these site interesting but not sure how useful I look for forecast rather than actual or archived data. How do you use the site?

same as the surfcams etc -
(1) to compare weather and resultant conditions
(2) to give precise timings on weather moving through

also interesting to compare forecasts with actual and consider getting a new source when they get it wrong!

Thanks Ken! Blissfully unaware until now. Although as I live at Lee-on-Solent mark 1 eyeball works for me! Interesting to compare Solent with Chichester as I keep my boat there and often find entirely different wind direction/strength....

Noticed it for the first time yesterday. I was just thinking of going to have a look at the boat and was comparing the data coming out of Chimet, Cambermet and Bramblemet.

Several posters were glued to it on the day of the Cowes fireworks, watching the wind (and waves) increasing then die off. V useful for making instant decisions on whether it's worth travelling several hours to the boat for a jaunt out

Re: Have been using it...

Me too. Particularly like the archive facility, though this also missing when equipment goes down. Hats off to them - it's a great site and long since bookmarked.

Last thing I do before checking out to the boat is have a look on the site. Gives me a good idea what to expect on the way out.

Better still, if you have WAP phone you can log in from on board and get up to the minute info on wind and sea conditions before commiting yourself to Chi Bar when the weather is dodgy - I have run up a big bill this season!

Point your phone at www.chimet.co.uk/wap - works for Bramblemet, Sotonmet and Cambermet too.

Brilliant!
