A "big boys" jolly to the boatshow next week. Hopefully leave Guernsey next Sunday and stay in Ocean Village for a few days and then off to Cherbourg to "help pay for the diesel" with some cheap plonk.
As I have never stayed in O.V. and do not know that end of Southampton can anyone suggest a couple of decent eating houses as I suppose reservations will be needed at this time?

Thanks all.

Try the Kama (opposite Debenhams) if you like Indian food, it's very good and quite reasonable,
also the Waterfront at Shamrock Quay , about 20 mins walk away,

Without doubt the best place around OV is Merchants, especially on a Saturday evening or Sunday lunchtime. Gets full very quick so need to book Saturday.
It is a 5 min walk at most, within the marina development area (read building site)

you need Oxford Street, its ten mins walk from OV, you got Curry in Kuti's and Poppadom express (dont be fooled by tacky name, its v good and like a colonial house inside), you've got Olive Tree and Pizza express for Italian, plus a couple of brasseries, two pubs worth a visit, The Grapes, All victorian cast iron work and the willows, best meat in hampshire, landlord does a sort of meat delivery service.

Can certainly recommend the Oxford Brasserie in Oxford Street. Definitely book.
Also Oxfords, next door, but more expensive.

Can't agree about Waterfront. Middling at best.
TAP's restaurant, also in SQ is infinitely better, although more expensive. Book.

Royal Southampton Yacht Club do bar food and a la carte menu Wed-Sat evenings and lunch every day. Welcomes visiting boaty types. Good food and very reasonable (less than 15 quid a head for 2 courses a la carte). A very short stagger from pontoons too.
