We have two 30DS in Rochester Cruising Club at the moment . A boat powered with pair of 75HP Volvos and a boat with a pair of 165HP. All on shafts.
We did have another 30DS in the club but with an outdrive , it was the chaps first boat but after a disasterous and expensive couple of seasons he gave up , his wife refused to go out on the boat.
Apart from the usual seals and rams the thing broke down on a couple of occassions offshore and needed a tow home .
Something collapsed in the upper gear set and that proved to be the final straw.
Sold the boat and gave up.
The guy actually was an AA man so not totally unconnected with mechanical stuff.

Hi I had an 89 with ad 41a 2 x 200 hp diesels on shafts was a great boat , only recurring problem was shaft seals , 41a engines Smokey on start up but cleared when warm

an excellent and very overlooked boat.
A couple of our more adventurous and "time rich" club members took their boat as far south as the "Med" and as far north as the Baltic.
