We owned a Crabber 26 but sold it early this year as my partner has neck problems. Now looking to move to a motorboat. I used to be an inshore lifeboat coxswain so appreciate good safe handling. We have a set of criteria including at least 1 cabin, heads, wheelhouse including seating and cooking plus an aft deck seating area, don’t like fly bridges. Ideally hull would be “nelson ish“ and would be twin shaft drive but single would be acceptable. Having done loads of internet research I’ve come down to Seaward 29, Aquastar 27/33, Nimbus 27/280/31, Marex (in my dreams) or similar types/makes. My partner would like to look at various options but the rest of the world is a long way from Falmouth. Does anyone on the forum own anything that might be suitable and based in Cornwall /West Devon that we could come and look at to help us narrow our choices. Many thanks.

Never seen one of those. It looks as if the heads is a bit “open” which won’t cut the mustard with the boss.

Sparked my interest and had a Google of Minor boats. Didn’t realise that they are now Sargo! Cooking facilities are a bit slim but no doubt the handling and accommodation is there. Never ceases to amaze me how some nice boats have crappy names.

Hi Hacker,
I'm at Restronguet and I bought an Aquador 32C earlier this year and I am delighted with her. Nimbus-like, but with walk around decks and side doors plus twin sunroofs. We looked at a good many boats and the Aquador best fitted the bill.
Are you able to get out on the water to have a look? We are just off Weir at the mouth of Restronguet Creek, there are also two Nimbus - or Nimbi? - close by. There is an Aquador 26HT on the pontoon at Mylor plus numerous Merry Fishers. I would look at the Duchy 27 too. There are a couple on the Amsterdam Point side of St Mawes inlet and a fore runner that is identical off the Greenbank Hotel.
Sneak into marinas and wander the pontoons. A great pastime and really good for sussing what will best suit you.

Good luck

Cheers, just got back from a wander around Premier Marine (it’s a short walk up the road for us). Nimbus 280 there but my partner worried about the side deck access. Aquador 28 which has great side decks. Sargo 31 expedition which is great although cooking a bit limited. Seaward 29 plus Channel Island 28 & 32. Couple of Antares as well. At the moment we are a bit budget constrained as we have a Georgian House aka a money pit (similar to boats of course).
