Any news on that Sunken Barge

If I were a betting man (and perhaps I should be) I am going for a lift next week. A trip down the A316 with the boat is looking more appealing as the days go on.

H,mm will contact them agin ...What happened to the No Overnighting ...Confused of Medway. :)
Well nothing says that just because you book in and move your boat to ST Kats for a while that you will actually be staying overnight on board - you could still go home each night and return the following day but that would be unnecessary travel and not good for the environment :)

I'm glad that the EA are eventually getting around to moving the boat they sunk in the lock cut, but Saturday? FFS. Goodbye another weekend.

I was told that the tug Falconbrook, which was used to tow the widebeam canal boat off Sunbury weir, has been owned for some time by a contractor. No longer an EA vessel.

Not certain but I don't think the EA were involved in the sinking.

Breaking news.
Just received email that Sunbury lock - which is closed to navigation will be closed (!) tomorrow (Saturday) to allow Land & Water to attempt recovery of the widebeam canal boat.

I’m posting this from inside Sunbury lock ! Passed narrow boat with ease and now on hand wind. It will be chained up soon apparently!

Safely tied up just below Teddington.

In fairness anyone with half a clue would be able to pass the barge safely by hugging the weir. In fact we shared the lock with a 24ft motor cruiser who had passed ahead of us.

That said if it’s gone tomorrow it makes no difference.

Very cold and windy out there today !! Just miffed I did not doing last weekend in the sun !!

Twitter says (with photographic evidence) that it's been lifted to the surface and is on it's way to the dry dock not far away.

Can see why it caught people out. Let's hope that they will open up the river fully this week.
The lock and river were opened earlier this afternoon.
M4 bridge works at Bray also finished earlier today so open there as well.
Only passage problem now aware of is dangerous tree above Sonning lock.
Otherwise whole river can now be navigated. Most locks on public power but a small number with electrical problems being worked on.
Also heard today that long term electrical problems at Cookham have finally been resolved.
see River Thames Conditions. for latest updates.

Great to hear, thanks for the post

Is this the same barge? Outside the dry dock. Looks like its had a hose down but not a single window in place.
