Any ideas where to pick up a reconditioned Bravo III

My comment I'm afraid is based on past history on recon products from them.

Yep, take the opportunity to get rid of the BIII and fit a BI instead, or even better a BI X.
Unless your boat is underpowered and/or very hard to get into plane, you will never miss the (very slightly) better holeshot, and you'll love the better overall performance and reliability.

Sorry, no idea for reconditioned stuff, though also in this respect you will surely have a wider choice with the BI than with the BIII.

Stefans boat has yanmar6lp at 300 hp so a B 1 def won't do the job, the B3 x is the answer.

Would prefer B3X but I have dual engines and spending £10,000+ to buy a pair to fix a £fewthousand problem (as long as I can find a recon and VolvoPaul is working magic as we speak!!!!!) doesn't quite feel like the right answer!!!!!!

Darn, I never think of diesels mated with Merc outdrives.
That said, are you sure that there's any difference in power/torque capability between a B1 and a B3? I would have thought that this only depends on the version (base/X/XR), rather than 1 or 3. Or do you think a single prop might cavitate with high torque at low rpm?

Doh! I missed that bit, too.
It obviously doesn't make sense to hava a 1 together with a 3.
Otoh, I wouldn't mind fitting a X with a std, as long as they have the same ratio.
That would be a wise choice in view of when (not if, I'm afraid) you'll have to replace also the other one...

The 6lp's have been known to chew up a B111 as they produce immense torque! I was running the same set up in a 2858 Bayliner f/b a few years ago and was advised to fit a (transom shower) for extended passages as the top of the drive could get quite hot!
A simple enough setup, made one myself out of rigid plastic pipe......i.e pickup below water level whilst on the plane and directed to exit the flow over the top of the drive whilst underway....hey presto never had a problem.

Edit.....PS I wonder if this might be the reason the casing has cracked?
