ANY FRIDGE ENGINEERS IN THE UK WHO CAN DIAGNOSE AND OR FIX AN ENGEL 12V/24V 40L FRIDGE

In general I think the moderation is fine, I’ve certainly agreed every time they banned me! Would be nice if they could ban multiple user accounts though, some are very obvious!

Ridiculous. Though, for the sake of transparency, I did pick up Mike Pickles (can't remember his forum id) for some fairly blatant promotion of Harbour Marine Services, Southwold in a few of his posts. Which he accepted with grace and didn't hesitate to give me helpful advice via PM. I felt guilty afterwards and wouldn't do it again. I'm grateful for the input Paul Rainbow, Owen/Vyv Cox, Nestaway etc give on this forum. This forum will die with the moderation that goes on.

I think I read that YBW is not actively moderated and that moderation is largely, or maybe partially, moderated by members (the ones who are not in fact ... moderators) using the 'Report' button.

Blame ourselves

where a person has multiple accounts. A certain anti-lithium fanatic springs to mind.
Its another rule - you are not allowed multiple accounts. If you know of them and they detract from the Forum you should use the report facility. If you don't report them then you have yourself to blame - though the Moderators may not agree with your report. Arguing in public with Mods decisions is also part of another rule. Another rule, or part of the same, don't criticise the Mods in public.

One member had multiple accounts - the Mods sussed, he was banned for life

I some times find that Mods are selective in their application of the rules. Clipping Owen's wings AND banning Vyv seemed a bit harsh - punishing the father for the 'sins' of the son? - but the Mods are right so I accept it (as did Vyv and Owen). As long as you stay on the right side of the rules you can remain a member - which, I think, allows you to use PMs

Basically though we may, individually, think some rules are petty and of harsh - it all seems to work. It is a friendly Forum and most people follow the rules, self excepted - I get my knuckles wrapped and go on shore leave.

Owen's view is that preventing him from advising on heater issues is the forum's loss. He has absolutely no need to promote his products in this very small audience - the product is a huge success story in UK, outselling its rivals by far.

I pondered on this yesterday and wondered if caravans were a bigger market anyway for, diesel, heaters. I do recall his posts on the heaters and his assessment of the competition.

Its good to hear that he is doing well.

Motorhomes and camper vans are his major buyers. Most of his business goes to installers, although private owners remain a large part of overall sales. Boats are pretty low in the sales figures.

He started the business around 6 or 7 years ago, with a single pallet of heaters. Two or three years ago he took a delivery of three 42 ton artics!

I think Owen's market has a different mix to Australia -Oz seems to be lots of rental, rather than private, motor homes - more caravans (some of which are huge. 5 wheelers, - and include a small car, commonly Suzuki's) than motor homes. The caravans tend to be towed by big pickups aka Utes. (Australia's most popular 'car' is a ute).

Its good to know he created a niche, and a big niche, I'd tend to agree - is was our loss.

I knew it would be likely anchors would get a mention eventually, well done. :)

Djbangi is the name of a rock climbing route in England, but it might be in Wales. I think first climbed by Don Willans.

I think you might misunderstand. My understanding is you can have multiple accounts under different names - but only one at a time. You need to close the older account before you open a new one. I confess that Management could not understand why I wanted to change from JonJo to Neeves but I decided I had no need to 'hide' who I was - and it makes it so much easier for anyone who wants to down size their chain or garner advice on a snubber (neither of which is a source of income for me) to find me. A few others also don't 'hide' behind a user name - but use their own surname and sometimes Christian and Surname.

Oddly if you inadvertently learn the 'real' identity of a member here, on YBW, and you divulge the user name used by the real name it is yet another crime punishable by the Mods.

But you give me opportunity to add:

Coincidentally a new 80m x 8mm rode is being coated NOW as I type, unlike HDG its a slow process and the ovens operate overnight and through the weekend - it should be with the new owner next week. The rode includes enlarged Links at the ends, Class B shackles, chain hooks and will be fully teated for galvanised coating thickness, UTS and Proof tested. Find me a source of a rode with coating thickness and UTS for that specific rode to be available. The raw material for the new rode was bought by the new owners and he paid the converter to galvanise the chain. My role is simply to tell a prospective owner who to contact and ensure the chain is coated, galvanised, to my specification (which Is 20% thicker than the specification used by the US Navy and Marines). The coating is also harder than HDG and hardness and thicknesss are directly proportional to life (of the rode).

Thank you Noelex for the thread drift :)

'Sea Change' is a recent example of someone who changed user names

I changed here from 'JonJo' to 'Neeves' 2 or 3 years ago.

Your point is?
