Having thought about the thesis of this thread for a few more minutes, it occurs to me that there are indeed those who can't design a bow.

I never consciously thought about it before, but stern shape may have been a deciding factor in choosing the sailboats that I've owned. They both came with very attractive sterns, at least in my opinion. I then defiled the stern of the first with an outboard motor, and the stern of the second with a windvane.
