Any favourite 2 pin, inline, waterproof connnectors?

If you want to use it as a deck fitting, they are ok but I prefer a S/S Swan neck deck fitting with a connection box below deck.

Sorry....

the deck end is sorted (a gland, with below deck connection: similar to your suggestion).

I'm thinking about the connection at the top of the mast.

A twin- cored wire is poking through the mast, and needs to be connected to the two wires from the tricolour.

I used a 2 pin AMP Superseal connector (search on ebay - quite cheap). Will be waterproof on its own but can be wrapped in self fusing silicone tape for extra protection. You can then remove the light at any time without cutting the cable.

+1 I keep lots of them up to 8 bay and they are easy to get a good water resistant (not proof) demountable connection, a bit larger than I would like for some applications but very good in every other respect and blilliant for heater harnesses. Favourite is Deutch, but they require expensive dedicated crimp tools.

In the same situation I would solder (properly done crimps also very acceptable) and then cover with adhesive heatshrink. But if you want a removable connector, mine is another vote for Superseal. I give them a dose of Contralube too.

I use Dri-plugs for our 100w solar panels so that they can be easily removed. I've put Contralube on them from new and they are still in good order after 16 months.
N.B. the socket is designed for bulkhead mounting

These work well on my motorbike.
I would think about ensuring the join is not under tension or vibration, cable tie it to take the strain off the connector.
