Gentle folk of the forum

I've bought something boaty related - a s/h inflatable dinghy - in Cornwall. The slight issue with my purchase is that it's in Cornwall and I'm not.

Does anyone have any great ideas for getting it from Cornwall to Perthshire, with an option B to get it to London Paddington and I can take it from there? I pass through it about twice a week on average.

If you're in Cornwall and fancy doing a delivery to London please do pm me... Very happy to negotiate over costs. Or indeed if you know a man with a van in Cornwall and can point them/me in the right direction that would also be appreciated.

I've tried the parcel delivery apps but no takers so far.

Hope I'm not mis-posting here!

Thanks Ken - I did so yesterday morning but with no responses so far. I might need to widen the 'bid invitations' (just getting to grips with how it works).

What size does it go down to? I'll be doing Cornwall up to Liverpool in the next couple of weeks, not sure when yet. If it will roll up onto a pallet, you should be able to get it moved for around £40.

Other option is ring Lanes of Cornwall, part of the Britannia movers network, I've sent large stuff all over the country for very reasonable rates if its not time critical.

Paisley Freight will do the job get online quote you will need weight and dims. plus the 2 postcodes I use them for bicycles for circa £20.

May need extra for insurance.

Boats are meant for sailing, why don't you hire a delivery skipper and take her round the coast? Any teething troubles will be properly shaken down, and if you accompany the delivery crew you will gain some useful experience ;)

Erm,- OP states it is a s/h inflatable dinghy....

I had an inflatable delivered by courier - googled and booked on line - from Cornwall to North Berwick last year, £35, no problems.

Interparcel quoted £2395.59 + VAT - youch (that's like ouch but with a yelp on the front).

I've had a couple of man with a van quotes - getting more sensible now.

Flibble my flob continues (was it that way round?).

Good spot - trouble is, it's not on a pallet. However, those nice people at YouShip and AnyVan are dusting themselves off at the back of the motorway services and have started to bid for the job. Prices are coming down (sell!) and I'll keep you posted.

How about a sweepstake on the price I'm eventually offered?

I like the sentiment, but perhaps not ideal for this particular vessel! ;-)

It is a shame I don't have anything going North at the moment otherwise I may have been able to help...
