Any body going out in next 24 hours?

Very high tide today on the island was lapping over the banks of the Medina right up into Newport and breaking right over the wall at Egypt point this lunchtime.

Suprising number of mobos about though. Seaward 29 out playing in the swell and shrugging it off. Sealine F34 struggling a bit more but still getting along well. Avon A620 RIB came out of Cowes and stuck to the coast by Gurnard but soon started getting 2 feet of air under the hull even when going slowly and headed back into the Medina. Finally a Princess V58 came out of Cowes and sped imperiously up Soton water.

Tide table says HW today 4.4 mtrs, Sotonmet says HW was actually 5 mtrs, this is affect of high S or SW winds and low air pressure.

Best go check the boat tonight!

Drove over the Burseldon Bridge at H/W today - the water was right into RK's yard as far as the sheds.

Excellent, at least SWMBO will get good TV reception to watch Strictly come X-factor, Get me out of here on Saturday night!

David,
Can you do me a favour and tell me what the forecast is like for the Clyde area between Arran and Ardrossan this Sunday.
Were booked on the 1350 ferry, and in the last 3 days most of the crossing have been cancelled.
I've just been listening to the shipping forecast tonight, and tomorrows looking pretty bad too.

Cheers

Al.

It's "Dead Calm" round here at the moment (Anglesey).

Doing a Power Boat Course over the next 3 days!

Think Anglesey must be immune.

Think the Winds will be OK .

Think it's all in other parts.
Checked the Forcast.

Changed My thinking. Looks like a "Hooley" up here!
Oh well, interesting weekend, got to go afloat.
Wonder if they'y cancel the Course?

Hmm, that could be a bit optimistic. I'm no forecaster, but looking at the pressure charts it all depends on which way that low goes, and how it develops. Last time the isobars were that close together it was F7-F8, but I'm not sure where the Met get their "F10" from.

Chimet/Sotonmet seem to have gone AWOL - data last updated on the 20th.
