Antifoul preparation

I need to slightly raise the height of antifoul around the waterline. How do I prepare polished white gel coat?

Rough it up with some coarse sandpaper

G'day Billy,

You need to remove any contaminants like oil and silicon BEFORE you start sanding or you risk spreading them into the keyed area.

Acetone should do the job, use cotton white rags and plenty of them, then sand and remove the dust with a bit more acetone, mask up and paint.

Might be worth using a primer on the bits which have't been done before - it isn't always necessary but will help ensure that the antifoul stays on

Do you not want to use International Trilux for the boottop rather than antifoul? Either way, the prep is the same as above.
