Apart from the mess if there is any wind at all, I don't think you would get enough paint on the hull to give the required thickness without putting on a very large number of layers
I was amazed to see it being sprayed on last February.
Boats were masked off and two done at a time, professionals.
I would think there will be a lot of Public Liability claims.
Tip for a Roller, add a 2 ft broom handle as an extension, don't mask off, the roller gives a near perfect line, roll to 1-3 mm below the old line which will vanish after immersion.
Aside from toxicity, I would agree that layer thickness is the problem. The goal is to slap as much AF on as possible in one go. So I tend to use a hairy roller.
Spraying would require masking and several coats. Rolling will be quicker.

Anti foul needs to be painted to the required thickness for it to be effective. A thin coat will look nice on the hard, and won't build up and flake off like a thick coat, but will be pretty much worthless as an anti foul.
I have gone onto soft in order to avoid the build up of hard that does have a serious flake issue on faster boats, freezing temperature on the hard may also be an issue for hard flake problems.
I certainly didn't get on very well with it.
I didn't see the boats get launched, perhaps they were painted ready for sale or a boat show ?

Her Majesty always has her ships painted by brush. Takes me 3 hours to do 31 feet and that includes the funny metal bits too. However I would wait until May, thats when you need it not now.

Last Fast Attack / Patrol job I saw being finished of was sprayed !
My old company sprayed had our patrol boat sprayed. No problems at all - much quicker with far better finish and if you take into account staff hours doing it by brush then probably not much more expensive. I believe they sprayed again this year.
People say here multiple spray coats ... Many Commercial shipping may only do two coats if first is measured and found under spec. I've done dry-docks and Super Tropical ... Tropical A/F's were one coat spray jobs ..
Me ? I don't need it as my boat sits in Fresh-water and only short periods ventures to brackish ... Baltic.
2007 - I applied special FW spec AF and at end of season she came out just AF discoloured. So beggining 2008 never bothered. She came out month ago same as end 2007 - nothing ! I'm happy !
