Anti Social Behaviour

Noise levels from parties on board should drop after 11, and should not stop people sleeping after midnight.

Just imagine having to get up at 5am to catch a tide - not being allowed to get to sleep till 1 am is going to make you pretty grumpy. The party goers have no idea who needs to get up when, so they should assume somebody does and keep the noise down. If they want to revel, then do it away from sleepers.

I agree that the actions of these party animals was most inconsiderate, but maybe the solution for when these incidents occur (hopefully very rarely) is to keep a good supply of ear plugs on board - I have found that they are very effective in keeping out snoring and other noises.
Oh, and be grateful that we have good hearing abilities! :D

Haven't read all the posts, but agree, bunch of inconsiderate LOUTS.

Seems to be happening more and more in the Solent. The further west you go the less of it you get, the more friendly the people, and the more they are there to sail, instead of behave as if they were in some 2 for 1 happy hour bar in any of our faceless town centres. Just yob attitude/behaviour spilling over into boats. Real real shame.

I have ear plugs as others have suggested.

Personaly I love it when they tie-up outside of me, cause I will get up extra early to go. Wrap their shrouds with a wrench (you would be amazed the din it makes inside a boat), wake them up so we can go. Petty, probably, but makes me feel good and serves them right for being so damn inconsiderate.

What I find really apalling, quite apart from yob behaviour, is that there are members of this forum who if not actually being opposed to it actually lean towards defending such conduct. Does this imply it takes one to recognise another, and therefore sympathise with such people ?

Being ex military I sometimes respond in a different manner so they know where I am coming from.

I'm ex military, but I have the manners not to 'bark' at civvies as if they are squaddies.

Hope you lot are not going to be in N Wales next weekend when we hold the forum 'Frostbite' meet in Victoria Dock Caernarfon.

You'll be driven mad as we discuss into the wee small hours important issues like our various ailments, aching joints and excess nasal and ear hair, while Kawasaki 'rummages' each boat for more booze and Haydn sets fire to everything with his fags.

No I would have probably got a hose pipe and drenched them or pulled the electric plug as I once did in Grenada. West Indies. OK I am a fairly menacing figure and very very fit so it all helps.

Peter

Wow, I would pay to see that - 40 drunken Welshman who have just had their good time ruined by you spraying them with a hose and disconnecting their electricity.... :D

What sort of military background equipped you for that?

The time is 00:48, we are in East Cowes Marina on B3. Opposite us on A3 and A4 a pontoon party is in an "Ongoing" state. There is music loud enough that it is preventing sleep and is disturbing our night. Lots of braying laughter and generally loutish behaviour.

I am not complaining about people having fun or enjoying life, but it is now 01:01 on Sunday morning.

I have just returned from trying to reason with the "lead" boat. a large Ancona with around 20 people drinking and smoking on the pontoon and possibly 20 more in and around the cockpit of this and of the other boat "True Blue" moored next to her.

When I asked "where are you from"? the answer . . . "Wales!"

Next question "you are aware that the time is half past midnight?" the answer . . . . "So!"

I have always promoted sailing as a sport where you would meet a nicer type of person, clearly I need to revise my views.

It is just starting to rain so I guess that they will now go inside and we and other visitors to this nice marina can get some sleep.

Yours Simes
Is this anything to do with them?

I would have contacted the marina office either VHF or landline and asked for another berth IF it was really that bad, or ask for the group to be moved.

I assume it wasn't that bad if you were posting on the forums rather then taking positive action to get a good nights sleep?

I would hope that not everyone shares your views towards young persons and causing problems, I am 23 and would hate to think owners in my marina thought that of me and my friends as I am always considerate.

If you have a look at the photos on Facebook, it looks like Piers Morgan and Max Clifford were there too! :D

Looks like a bunch of knob heads to me.

Someone else posted a similar thread recently about being disturbed by noisy partygoers.
Why not play ''get your own back'' ?? Get one of those hand held canister type fog horns.
The dB level is unbelievable. At the crack of bird sh it next morning, prepare to slip & then wander along the pontoon to there boat.
Remembering they have been akip all be it a couple of hours, full of grog. Give them a 2 minute blast on the horn into there cockpit or any open hatch/porthole. It works a treat.
And you feel good.

Why not play ''get your own back'' ??

Years back in a French nightclub the barman f#cked me over on my change. He knew I knew and gave a sh#t eating grin and gallic shrug. Mid week and not very busy............I dropped a log on the dancefloor, well - not so much a log as had a touch of tummy trouble  We left v. quckly :D

Although I would perhaps be a bit more relaxed about noisy neighbours, dropping a log into their cockpit (direct or first "decanted" into a bucket for the more shy )........or down a hatch ........might be worth some Youtube in the morning :p

I like seeing young people sailing! There aren't nearly enough, either, between the tanned marinabrat teenagers and the corpulent middle-aged caravanners.

As an alternative solution - I always take with me the moulded ear plugs I have for biking. Excellent protection against wind in the rigging, crew snoring or pontoon parties. Also handy if I go to the club for one of their piss up and disco nights when the invited band always but always play too loud ignoring what the Commode has asked them to do.
