Anti-freeze again

Did I say neat MEG ? I said neat Antifreeze ... that is to put it simply :

We walk into shop. hand over the money for a plastic 5ltr jug of Anti-freeze with -40C written on it. We then pour that in to system ..
Unlike when I lived in UK and I used to pour in so much AF and so much water ..

Happy now ?
Clearly what you are calling "antifreeze " is similar to what we call "ready mixed" and is used without further dilution to give protection down to -34C

We also have "antifreeze concentrate" which if diluted 50:50 gives protection down to -34C. The figures suggest this is about 96% ethylene glycol. (Halfords msds merely says >90%)

Wasn't aware that you could buy neat MEG in a car shop or petrol station ...

Happy now ?
As Vic says, I only ever buy neat antifreeze at Halfords or one of my local motor factors. However, I always dilute it 50% with water for the reasons given.

It's not that expensive and lasts effectively lasts the "life" of the car (less than that with boats, of course) so I can't really see why one would further dilute the 50% pre-mixed stuff.
