Last year had terrrible fouling in Falmouth area used XM, not very good at all. Bought new but now found out thats rubbish so looking for a good antifouling. Help?
I can only advise that I've used Seajet Emporer and have been extremely pleased with the result. It's not the cheapest a/f but seems extremely good. I'm Portsmouth based and floating all year round.
Another vote for JOTUN. Great experience on the Tamar (Saltash): much better than previous experiences (including XM). Scrubbed once mid season - not much there anyhow, and the hull was essentially clean, bar a couple of barnacles where the paint had not been applied properly (beneath the cradle props in places). The saildrive had Trilux and was in MUCH worse condition.
last year in Falmouth one coat of Seajet Shogun (all hull) plus a small tin of Emperor around waterline and keel edges only as topcoat worked really well May to November afloat.
Tried Tiger and International 1 coat - both needed a good mid season scrub. End of season I had a fair number of barnacles but only in isolated areas. Both were adequate.
This year I've moved onto Seago Eroding for High Fouling areas. I'm expecting the same sort of result.
Seajet is good stuff. Lasts two seasons in the Med with a few scrapes in between to keep the barnacles at bay. I seem to recall that it came out as best buy in YM (or was it PBO) survey a couple of years back. A search facility would be good.
Sadly, have to report very poor performance from SEAGO over last two years in Chichester. Time to move on and try yet another ...... but do the formulations stay constant long enough for any comparisons to ever be meaningful?
