My boat has very little fouling but I am going ahead with anti-fouling largely for cosmetic reasons. How should I prepare the hull to receive the paint?
Spent a day at International Paints years ago and learnt the best way for anti foul like many things is preperation and to undercoat first.
I use Internationals 'Primocon' as the undercoat then top coat 'Micron Extra', but there is of coarse other makes, But from my own experiance I think you get what you pay for when buying antifoul.
The results are I can get two years in between antifouling no problem and have to lift out after two years mainly to change anodes

If you have bare gel coat showing in some areas you may find that you will benefit from a primer first otherwise the antifouling may not stay on for long.
The PBO has run an article on this recently.
