Anti foul dust inhalation problems

I was in a field on my own
That's good. I hope you have no long-term effects.
There are some nasty chemicals around around boats. I once had some bad effects after inhaling the fumes of the timber preservative Cuprinol in a confined space. I think it was pentaclorophenol (something like that).

Definitely see your GP then as i may stand corrected but im sure dust from GRP and such is similar to asbestos and can stay buried in your lungs for a long time causing infections, pneumonia etc, i dont think it as dangerous as asbestos but im sure it can screw up your lungs just the same.

The OP said it was the result of sanding anti-fouling paint (which contains poisons), not GRP.

Speak to your GP, general check up and chest x ray.

in truth, whatever is done is done. Your alveoli will try and clear out foreign matter by producing more fluid thus giving you a productive cough. biocides in your system not ideal (I think one is a neurotoxin) but again.....4 weeks on....all done now.

Lungs can cope with quite a bit surprisingly but you need to see if any long term damage which will put you at greater risk of chest infections/pneumonia. Poss steroids and prophylactic antibiotics.

you’ll be grand......smokers wreck a ton of alveoli every day!

Hi. thank you for your information and for taking time to reply I really appreciate it.

I´m not a lung specialist but have it more with the joints. I can recommend to go to a Specialist to get some examination, like blood examination, x-ray of the lung, perhaps CT. It could be so much, from Covid over allergic reaction ect., there might be no correlation with your boat work...

I did the same thing years ago with similar symptoms, a tight chest and frequent coughing, it lasted for months and I found it very tiring, fortunately I was still fit and in my thirties, I didn't seek medical advice but given any bronchial condition at the moment I would swallow my pride and at the very least contact 111 as couple your condition with COVID and things could go down hill very quickly.

Don't be waiting for an answer on a boat forum, PICK UP THE PHONE NOW!

That's why the regulations are what they are.
But now we a free of the EU shackles we can poison ourselves and our neighbours to our hearts content.

And I guess that you have never made a mistake?
I know that I have and I can empathise with the OP’s predicament. He is clearly worried and seeking advice from people who might know something. Help and reassurance is probably the way to go.

Trust this quack. He only lies to his mates and himself. ? (y)

I
Just a 3 ply everyday mask.
if it was a 3 ply surgical grade mask....they filter something like 97% bacteria which are a lot smaller than antifoul dust particles so would have offered you a fair bit of protection.

I wouldn’t be too worried....you just need checking out.

I once painted the tubes on a big rib. The flexible paint is mega strong stuff. No mask..nothing. Was doing the inside of the tubes in the bow section and thought I feel a touch faint. Next I knew....woke up and my roller was dry!

live and learn ?
