Hi All

I’m a very impatient person with a big dislike for repetitive tasks. Given I can’t take my boat (17ft speedboat on a trailer in my drive) down to the soda blasters what is the most efficient cleanest way to remove the old antifoul that actually works?

vacuum scraper or one of the myriad lotions and potions that make great claims?

Try coppercoating then. Cost u upfront mind.

apart from soda blasting, try an electric scraper tool. You can get anti foul removing gel, which is handy for tricky corners and curves around fittings. Much easier and quicker than pushing/pullling a manual scraper.
Then coppercoat it - job done for ten years plus.

Is there any info about on coppercoat and will it work on a larger boat ?

I wet sanded my antifoul , just enough for the white GRP to show through.
I tried dry sanding but the was way too dusty - hazardous . The wet sanding was messy too so suitable PPE required - a suitable coat/overtrousers or boiler suit suit with a hood or wear a hat, and safety specs and gloves.

If you cant abide doing it yourself why not get someone local in ? There are plenty of people out there who would be pleased of a couple of days paid work.

Why would somebody have anti fouled a speed boat that lives on trailer ?
Adds weight and almost certainly slows it down into the bargain !

Maybe OP wants to leave it afloat in summer months. Granted could trailer monthly and wipe of fouling from clean untreated gelcoat.

Am well aware that dragging a trailer half way across the county, queing up at the slip only to have to get it out and back home again, does have its downside.

I will leave it on a mooring in the summer. It’s my first season with it (ha,ha!). I have a sailing boat as well but that has eroding antifoul and doesn’t build up. This has a few old layers

im really wanting to know what is the easiest way to take off the excess. There isnt anyone local.
