Hi - first post here so please be gentle!!

I have a 2008 Beneteau Antares7 with nanni 155hp engine.

I want to install a new transducer that shoots through the hull by bonding inside the boat. However the boat is double skinned. Does anyone know where there is an area in the boat that is NOT double skinned - or an easy way to do this??

Thanks in advance

Andy

On my Antares 760 the previous owner has cut a rectangle (75 x75mm) out of the inner skin, however, ideally you need to do that in an area where there is an air gap between the two skins. Select a relatively flat area and press very hard on the inner skin to find an area that flexes indicating there is no bonding resin there. A multitool is the best tool for carefully cutting the apperture (like this Bosch 240V 220W Corded Multi tool PMF 220 CE | DIY at B&Q)

Thanks Plum - any idea whereabouts he did it?

Don't take this as gospel but I seem to recall that there was an area just in front of the engine on both sides of the centre-line which was single skin, albeit fairly thick. If you have an electronic speed/log, the transducer for that should be a good indication of the area to look in.

I thought the 760 hull was single skinned. I am surprised if it is double skinned in way of the engine bearers.
It is very difficult to find any of the hull in any part of the Antares 760 that does not have the interior grp moulding bonded to the hull. The engine bearers ARE part of the interior moulding. I thought you owned as 760?
