I'm getting close to buying a 2010 model Antares 30 with the Yanmar engine. Couple of questions,

1. Reading through the previous posts there's a number of strong recommendations for a stern thruster. The boat I'm looking at has a bow thruster but no stern thruster. Any idea what the price and feasibility is for a stern thruster retro fit?

2. The boat currently has 2 x 140ah batteries, with a stern thruster would these have to be upgraded?

3. What tender would Antares 30 owners recommend, and does the bathing platform take snap davits well?

4. What fuel consumption are you getting?

5. Any other mods/upgrades that owners would recommend?

Thanks

Great choice!!

1. 3-4k
2. Will be fitted with its own
3. I've got a cheap £300 one folded in the massive lazerette.
4. About 40litres/hour at 21kts which appears to be the "sweet spot" but I've got the volvo D6 in mine so don't know if the Yanmar is different.
5. Definitely table in the cockpit and heating but not much else.

Mine is for sale in the Autumn!!

A nice one and well maintained too!

I also have one with a Yanmar. I installed another MFD on the flybridge after a couple of years & had the MFD in the cabin upgraded to a c90w on initially purchase.I have no stern thruster & we are moored in a for/aft current in our marina which makes it a bit interesting sometimes as I reverse in . I also keep my dingy in the Lazarette. There is a graph somewhere & 2900 rpm was the sweet spot for the Yanmar which gives 19-20 knots approx. Theres a good vid on you tube from Motor boat & Yachting ---they like it !

I spent my first weekend on board this last weekend. First boat, only driven a 6m rib prior to my A30. I found berthing bows in in slight breeze quite easy with bow and stern thruster. Kept it slow and steady. Bow and stern thrusters very responsive.

For tender, search for 3D tender the 2.5m model weights 14Kg. I'm waiting until SIBS to see one in flesh before buying.
