After a few days of not talking to me my starter battery got a good seeing to - the magic eye had gone black - 12v max after a recharge - won't start the engine. So I bit the bullet and bought a new starter battery (well this one was with the boat 4 years ago so was on the list for next year).

They had a 54amp or a 74amp - I went for the bigger one - 149 Euros  Berthing fees are very reasonable but chandlers have a whole new take on pricing - stop complaining about UK prices.

How about Halfords? They seem to be in most of the Dutch shopping areas?.....Bet they would have been cheaper than a chandlery..............OK..I'll get me coat!

I know its no consolation if you need a battery in Holland, but I had the same problem last week.. Bought a new Bosch S5 Silver Plus 74 A/h battery with 5 year guarantee in Costco today £74 .. Like for Like - by far the cheapest I could find.

Any sign of the Poo Polite

i think with the CAPACITY to DISCHARGE our PRIMARY CELLS over this GASSING and the ENERGY used to CYCLE is putting a DRAIN on my PARRALEL CONNECTION so that the MEMORY EFFECT is now FLAT ....

and i ANODE thats before we even get to OHMS LAW :eek:

When we were in Holland a few years ago, we 'discovered' the Fishermans cooperative at Colijnsplaat. Proper stuff at way less than chandlery prices.
We have since used others in Den Helder and Urk (yes, I know, Urk). We have bought batteries (Procell), clothing, proper shackles, gloves, paintbrushes, deck brushes, boathooks etc all at a fraction of any swindlery price (eg one inch round brush €0.70). The one in Urk had everything from food to hifi, clothing to computers, deck gear to books. Find one, buy something, get a bag and you can find the others as they are all listed on the bag!

Hi Roger, cut ropes and flat batteries - whatever next. Hope all is well otherwise. Tempted to say "stay positive", but I won't :D

I'm current-ly doing battery work. It seems that you've got your plates full though, so at least it's not a terminal problem.

£225 for a 200ah AGM. Not bad, I thought.
