Another Potential Bargain ...

Good afternoon Mr Cooper, interesting..

She's been round the block a few times no doubt. But...

Bermudan rig?

Ferro construction?

A classic yacht you say? (pensively strokes beard)

Hhmmmm ;) ;) ;)

(to be sure, she's heavy for the money..)

My comments are offered in a spirit of friendly banter, not starting an argument, LD

No cooker in the Galley. Navigation suite seems to have been striped out leaving the bare minimum. Nothing said about re-rigging. Painted Aluminium masts & spars could hide a multitude of sins.....

Not that much of a bargain then!

Not sure you have read the description very thoroughly, particularly in respect of the rigging.

However it is based on a Windboats hull which was the bees knees when it was built. worth looking at if you like that sort of boat - but doubt it will fetch anywhere near that asking price.

About 15 years ago, when I was selling up to sail, I looked at a Windboats Endurance 35. Quite a different ballgame to those likely to be languishing in the Florida Keys.

The lay up was superb. As fair as any GRP yacht I have seen. The fit out was in good quality hardwoods and the standing rigging sufficiently oversized.

I suppose it is all down to your perception of a world girdling liveaboard home. If you are going to get bored and (try to) sell on after two years them steer away from it. If, however, you are not sensitive to prejudice and have a (very) long term plan, then a Windboats Ferro may be the right choice even at £35k.

In any event a Ferro surveyor is essential and a good one will be difficult to find.

The fully completed Endurances were exquisitely fitted out by Landamores, for long term voyaging you'd be had pressed to find a better built boat for the purpose. Landamores also fitted out Oysters I think. Of course lots of Endurances were sold as hull & decks and fitted out to a lesser standard neverthless all the ones I've been aboard have been terrific boats. I owned an Endurance 40 yeas ago, same boat but bigger.
