Sorry to bore you all about this but I really do value your comments.
When I first mentioned that we were looking at a Riva Portofino 47 MikeT said he didn't think Riva had ever built a Portofino 47. Well its seems he was right. Riva have emailed me and confirmed MikeT's thoughts.
So what did I look at?
It definately had Portofino 47 on the side of it (Port/Bow), but I don't recall seeing the Riva name anywhere.

I have asked the current owner to send me copies of any documents he has, in the meantime can anyone through some light on it.
Many thanks
Trudie

Trudie, do you have a pic of the boat you can put on here. If it is a Riva, it would have it written all over it - inside and out.

Biggest Porofino I can find on offer at the moment is a Sunseeker Portofino 400-1997

Give us a clue !!

Are we talking, targa style big speedboat, or flybridge like Riva Superamerica.

Didn't you also say it had Lister engines, or am I muddling with another posting?
What hp are engines?

Sunseeker have never made a 47 portifino so it can't be a sunseeker. The biggest hey have ever made is a portifino 400 (40ft), what HOO has found

I think the giveaway is going to be the GRP sheathed timber hull.
Sounds to me as though it may be a Med' builder, but non Riva, or certainly not 1978.

Still a bit mystified over these Lister engines at 420 hp.
Felt certain they only did generators and single cylinder donks, nothing that size, but confess engines not my strongest area of expertise.

Let's see the picture.

There is a boat which is a 'Portofino 47', I've seen at laest one in the Med. I'm struggling to recall the manufacturer but think it was a small Italian builder who no longer exist.. it will come to me..

I did do some investigating when these 420HP Listers were mentioned before, I came to the conclusion no way. As you say Listers go up to 3 cylinder all sloooooowww reving engines for Narra boats and gen sets, oh and dumper trucks. The only others are Lister Blackstone which are tonking great things and even slooooooower reving, used in Tuggie boats and the like.
