Another Med vid

Fwiw, it works fine from my W10 PC here in IT.

Nice video indeed, thanks for sharing it! :encouragement:
Just curious, isn't the anchorage at the beginning of the video the spot between the Lérins Islands (with a bit of W wind)?
Nice as that spot is, sometimes I wonder if you guys wouldn't be better off walking around Piccadilly Circus, just to enjoy a more quiet place...
...'scuse me now, must go look for my coat! :p

Yup Lerins -inbetween at week ends (day boating locals ) and during school hols is v busy .Theres some 5000 marina berths within 1/2 hr .
Indeed bay of Cannes to Cap D Antibes is exactly like Picadilly Circus .
Some days when it's supposedly flat calm ie F 1 -the whole bay of Cannes is a confused mess of man made wake waves .

There is a kinda strange appeal to this madness .
1- boat watching + people
2- pack mentality -bit like a beach it's some how better when packed as opposed to being Billy no mates on your own .
Deep down I think we area social animals .
3- navigating -auto pilot s redundant -you can,t go for 5secs without having to make course adjustment , or being mindfully of Col Regs .

How ever for me 1/2 hr west the second anchorage is the coast along the Esteril Mountians -if you want a more quiet anchorage -they can be found .

The only kinda downers piece and quiet wise are Heilcopters and newbys on charter boats .

In daylight hours there is a steady stream of copters out at sea - transferring punters from NCE to St Trop and Monaco .

Newby Charter punters like in the SS trailer ( on another thread ) -as soon as the anchor windlass stops turning the tender garage is open and all , I mean ALL the water toys come out .The punters whoop and scream as if they never been on a jet sky , seabob, paddle board etc .Bored crew end up driving the Williams towing a "banana " -with screaming girls on all afternoon .
It's as if they want there monies worth .On the boat they never sit still and Allways have a bottle or glass of booze in hand -they get louder and louder -culminating with the lads climbing higher and higher up the radar arch to dive bomb in .
Crew let dare not stop em -cos bang goes the 10% tip .

Proper owners a quite descrete , crew will lay out a couple of directors chairs + towels on the Bathing platform .You either don,t see or hear them or ---
After lunch Mr+ Mrs owner will take to the water for a quiet swim for 1/2 hour or so , then retire to the bow seating area under a parasol and read a book all afternoon ,perhaps interrupted by a "stewie" who will bring a tray of tea.

Yup - Cote D Azur in high summer can make Piccadilly Circus look quiet .

Worth running before dropping the track in.

Well, I must be more animal than social then, 'cause 'fiuaskme I'd have the second rather than the first of the two views below, any day of the week. :)
That said, I'd never dare pretending that I'm right and all those in the first pic are wrong.
This is clearly an each to their own subject, and being able to choose is even more clearly a first world problem! :encouragement:

Not sure I'm agreeing with you here - I'm posting this from a properly deserted beach on the gulf of mexico, and there's nobody else here, for as far as you can see in either direction. It's pretty nice...

I am exploring Thailand and South East Asia doing a bit of boating homework and one of the great appeals is tranquillity. If you want numbers then Phi Phi or Hong Island during the day will hit the spot as swarms of trip boats arrive with eager cargo. I find Australians and Chinese the most entertaining and vocal. The British are surprisingly quiet.

One of the difficult things to gauge from JFM & others excellent videos is just how many people there are battling for space. The UK is no different, I adore Newtown Creek but go there during a busy weekend in the summer & it's carnage. My videos of course focus on the tranquil aspect. When fending off boats anchored too closely I'm not filming :)

I'm looking for somewhere which provides the opportunity to go where you want when you want and that includes the on shore facilities such as restaurants.

Someone like JFM clearly has encyclopaedic knowledge which allows him to pick and choose depending on social requirements that day. He also resides in London (I think) so might have a different personal space measure to a country boy like me with people issues :)

I look forward to seeing the series. A superb marketing coup by Sunseeker. They really are masters of marketing and leave everyone else standing.

edited to say I've got my threads a bit mixed up...

Jimmy, this was taken in Cornwall yesterday, I actually rolled my trouser legs up and had a polo shirt on....

Still not enough to keep me in he uk any longer!

Holy crap. That is delicious, surely the best video we have seen to date ?

These drones in good hands seem to be taking over the world. JFM's fireworks spectacular now this. I'm dreading what will come out of Norden this year :)

The Baldricks are as bad in the height of the summer.
MAPISM - you are a bit economical with the truth - I do remember seeing two other boats one day!!

Best viewed on a desk top or pc due to music issues
Go pro with the continuity of a top gear xmas vid:):):)

Sorry I'm late on this thread, I've just got back from Greece after buying a boat (pics will follow) :)

The video is great but if I could suggest a couple of improvements that would improve your film. Firstly I like the speeded up journey but I would situate the camera further forward on your boat so that the field of view is not taken up by too much of your boat and shows more of the 'view' and less of your bow. Secondly I would keep the edits shorter when for instance you were filming facing forward and 'over the side'.
The best software I have found is the Cyberlink Power Director, in their Suite they also do a reasonable audio tweeking program.
Nice work though!

Yea Henry
But (for most) Easyjet don't fly there after work on Friday and return in time the Monday morning rush hour.

You raise an interesting point and it is something I am wrestling with at the moment.

My current take on things is that whilst we have a child of school age the Med won't work for weekends. After school, drive to the airport arriving 90 mins before the flight leaves, flight time, getting off the plane, getting luggage, taxi to boat, add on 1 hour for European time. With the best will in the world that looks like 5.5 - 6 hours assuming your flights match up with school finishing times. We are going to get to the boat midnight local time.

With that in mind we would only be able to use the boat during holidays for longer periods. That being the case I'm looking further afield and will probably wait until Em's is at university.

I'm going to tell my boy what you've said H, he will be made up. He's only been doing these for a month or so but he seems to have a knack!
