Another Chinaspacher Question.....

I'm wondering if there's any way to lower the output on the generic Chinaspachers? The one on Vim is 5Kw-8Kw but even on its lowest setting the cabin becomes so hot that I have to go outside in the cold - rather defeats the object! It's made worse because she's a Co26 and so has little space to warm-up in the first place.

Any ideas please? I've seen 3Kw motherboards on eBay but not sure if that's the way ahead.

Easiest solution is to buy a 2kw but make sure its the smaller heater with 60mm ducting and not the larger often falsely advertised 5kw.

Do you have a thermostat on it? Do you duct the heat around - if it’s split up and relatively inefficiently spread around it is less intense than blowing it all out the front.

5kw~8kw is grossly oversized for a Co26. I'd sell it and buy a 2kw Chinaspacher. I had a 2kw on my Nicholson 26 and it was plenty warm enough even when turned down.

I tried a smaller sized 2kw chinaspacher, from the same manufacturer as my big 5kw sized 2kw (5kw chassis, 2kw motherboard and matching controller). I found the smaller one a lot louder for airflow, so I went back to the larger one.

I bought a lower volume diesel pump, about 16ml instead of the usual 22ml supplied with most. It lowered the heat output, and I found I needed to turn the heater up a notch or two above minimum, which helped with avoiding it coking up.

Another potential is to add a duct outlet to the heads with a good vent above. Would be perfect for drying wet foulies!
