Another cheap S37? Not the same as the dodgy ebay one by the looks of it.

Chap I know has had a S28 on the market for over a year, now asking 10k less and no interest.

For a 99 boat I would say that is probably about right money wise, even a little ott.

Certainly not cheap i dont think.

The one on ebay had a reserve of £76k for a 2002 boat. Shame it got canned, I am sure he sold it outside of ebay in the end but I guess we will never know what for

The S37 like the Fairline targa 34 used to be gold plated on residuals and depreciation (as was targa 28/29/30 and S28). But times are a changing! 2 years ago I nearly bought a similar boat with merc engines (People prefer volvos so less value) for £82k. I would expect that the £80k mark is nearer the current market but it is supply and demand! The seller pulled out BTW..

T34 still holding its value well but the little Targas are now selling cheap as chips. A reliable source tells me that he recently heard of broker selling a 2002 T30 (diesels and inc vat) for £52k. Not long ago it would have been nearer the £80k mark.

With the existing economic situation luxury things like boats are going to be hit hard. This is bad for the seller but great for a buyer who has waited and is happy to wait a bit longer. S37's have been advertised around 100k for some time and most of them are still sitting on the brokerage web sites. Simply too expensive with few potential customers. Who knows what offers will be accepted on these boats £60k, £70k ??. Peps who have the cash waiting will see the obvious, and wait, the result being even lower prices.
Many peps will suffer from the same problem as me which is off loading their old boat before being in a position to upgrade to a new one.

Gosh, I wish I didn't have a boat to get rid of before I could buy another, there are some great bargains out there at the moment

Well, each boat and individual circumstance is different. Forced sells might drop some prices, but there again, if you think your boat is worth 100k,whether rightly or wrongly, you arent going to sell it for 60k, are you? If you perceive that to sell it gives you £40k loss, it makes more sense to keep it.
I do think there are alot of potential buyers who seem to think all sellers have to sell. Often, they dont seem to buy a boat, I ve noticed.

WOW! I had come across an early T28 for £49k (quickly snapped up) but never a later T30 for that much.

Mind you if a T30 in 2002 was say £100k new then that is about 45% depreciation over 6 years so only 7.5% a year.....

He he, yes it was so I'm fairly relaxed about the current situation.

My view is that you have more control in what you pay for something rather than what you sell it for - the market always decides the latter.

So are you looking at changing? In a depressed market it is always a good time to change up (not down) as though you may lose an extra 10% off your boat you get at least 10% off a more expensive one!

I'm looking to buy an S28 at the moment, but the only way i'd be inspired to buy right now is if it was filthy cheap... your friend needs to keep knocking k's off the asking price for people like me to bite /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
