Well, looks like tropical storm Bertha will stuff my plans for a visit to Southwold. Had a lovely sail from Pyefleet to Burnham today with a nice breeze and sunshine - 2 tacks all the way from Pyefleet to BOC, and I must say the Crouch is nicer than I thought (only been here once before with FC) going to sit out the breeze tomorrow and drift back to Ipswich on Thursday. Then day sail from there. A long overdue return to Hamford water beckons.
Anyone seen any mooring plans for the Clacton airshow?

Well, we've gone for our own 'Plan B'.
METOC bloke at work is of the opinion it will be 'not nice' in the are we plan to cruise (Southern North Sea and Eastern Channel) from Sunday till Thursday next week.
Other half has 3 weeks off work starting Saturday.
It had been our intention the spend the first 10/11 days on the boat and the remainder in Brittany.
We've swapped this around: Brittany first, followed by 10/11 days on the boat.

Now sat on a mooring at Wrabness after a nice sail back from Burnham, so at least I'm not stuck in Gosport waiting to move on! And can pick some nice local day sails to places I have neglected lately. Still have another 2 weeks to fill though!

Shall be in Ipswich for the Maritime festival and handy for the Clacton Airshow.

i saw the forecast for tomorrow & escaped The Ore 2h 20m after HW Harwich, min depth was 2.8m about 50m from the red by, had a very nice sail back to the hbr it then rained with a following light wind so motored to Ipswich. Tent now rigged, bring it on

Much as we use to enjoy the annual adventure, some of our worse sails ever were 'getting back home in time for work' so there is much to be said for local day sailing, when if the weather turns turtle we could dump the boat locally & recover the next weekend.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Hi,

I think we spoke in the Pyefleet channel, before you picked up the mooring! As I said at the time, I have had lots of problems with dragging a Delta anchor in various parts of the Pyefleet, but the Fortress seems to bite straight away. Getting it back on board is a bit more of a challenge - generally doesn't need more than 5 minutes soaking after the rode is taut up and down. As you are at Wrabness, which is another place the Delta dragged when the wind got up a bit, where do you find to be a good place to anchor on the Stour?

I headed out of the Pyefleet a bit early on the Tuesday morning. The plan was to be back on the boat for a week or so next week - but the weather looks like it may mess up that plan!

Hope you have a good cruise.
