Another change of plan?

Sat on a fuelled , watered, provisioned boat at the mo, with 3 weeks off ahead. Just checked the weather, tides, star charts, chicken entrails, etc. etc. and do you know what, I'm not sure I can be arsed to beat my way down channel into mediocre weather compared to that forecast for the East Coast. ( single handing has it's drawbacks sometimes)
This week looks like Brightlingsea then Blackwater thenBurnham. Next week Southwold and Wells Next the sea, then back via Ore and Deben.

Or.....Ipswich Maritime festival.......Clacton Airshow..........any other local events?

Basically just relaxed pottering rather than stupid o' clock departures for tides just to spend 4-5 days in an overcast West Country then the same slog back.

Guess I need a bit of no pressure sailing for a few weeks :)

Im in the Pyefleet these past 27 hrs, nice n sunny day doin jobs + the odd bier

Looking at Passage Weather, this doesn't look like a good week for beating down the Channel. Luckily for me, I'm coming the other way.
 
Just a minor word of warning: If you are heading back and venturing up Ore/Alde the Aldeburgh Junior Regatta is 11th-15th and Main Regatta 17th -22nd. Can be very very busy around that area.
Thurs 21st is called Orford Day where many Alde Yacht Club meets up at Orford for a day of racing and drinks, etc. Prob no chance of a mooring.
Aldeburgh Carnival Monday 18th if that is your thing.

Re launch Monday week.
Draft plan is to head for Bruges via Ramsgit, Gravelnes, and pints along the coast.
Would like to be back off Clacton for the Friday Air Show.
Does seem a bit tight.

I'm going to Ipswich on Thursday. Kids and little grandkids arrive Friday for three nights bimbling about on the Orwell and Stour. Back home Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or Thursday.

Best not to look at the forecast until the day. In the last 24 hours it has gone from 6knots to 26knots on Saturday. 6 would be fine please.

Habebty - my mate who wants to have a butchers at your boat will be leaving Bradwell with me on Thursday morning (one way trip). Let me know if you are there on Wednesday overnight.
 
Just got back from two weeks darn sarf from the Orwell, Brightlingsea, Pyefleet, Mersea, Heybridge and three blissfull nights at anchor off Osea. I know the weather has been exceptional but sod the long passages!

I would refer the Honourable Member to his own forecast system, traditionally known as a 'Guapacast'

2-4 Variable, as spoken from the aft rail of the fine vessel Guapa when Full Circle was on the way out of Oostende...... so long ago.

Roger (MS) I will update this post with my travels and let's hope we all have a serendipitous meet (beer) up.

Just about to settle down with a beer and my annual read of Magic of the Swatchways ( always liked MG's type of sailing more )
 
Please can we have a Westerly F3 on Saturday. A run down the Whitaker and a beam reach to the Medway will suit me nicely! After that I don't care cos it's up the London River on Monday and that'll probably be mostly motoring anyway and as for the trip back the following weekend anything could happen

Which is pretty much why I'm plannng to sail next Sunday - regardless.

I can understand the desire expressed by others to stick to local waters, but I'm very keen to escape the gold fish bowl.
Being a deep keel boat and in part due to my aversion of creek crawling, the East Coast is not as attractive to us as it us to others with craft more suited for such adventures.

I had a long bash westwards , getting as far as Plymouth eventually .. bit of an endurance fest really!

However the trip back has been glorious, the highlight so far was the trip on Saturday from Brighton to Ramsgate, all under sail with 80 miles in 10 and a half hours .. that alone was worth all the westerly bashing pain!
