Hi
have been following the recent battery thread with interest. At the moment I have a good quality starter battery. The domestic side of things has been taken care of with another heavy duty but not leisure battery. The starter battery is recent the domestic battery is at least 4 years old and is starting to need more attention as regards charging.Had it checked at the auto shop and he said it wasen't at what it should be.I no that it is better to have a leisure battery as this will be better for the domestic. Both are currently charged buy engine alternator via a sterling smart charger. There is the usual 1,2 and both on the switch side.I would like to have 2 leisure batteries in the domestic side or one big one room isen't a problem if i go for 2 how do i join them and if they are connected will they be equally charged.thanks for your oppinions.:)

You wire then in parallel

Positive to positive and negative to negative

To ensure even charging and discharging it is better to make the positive connection to one and the negative connection to the other rather that both connections to the same one

connect your 2 leisure batteries in 'parallel' i.e. positive to positive, negative to negative.

(if you connect one positive to one negative then they'd be connected in 'series' and the 12 volts would go up to 24 volts - exactly like your AA batteries in a battery operated toy, etc)
