Sorry, am I missing something here? Surely there is nothing in the profile which is confidential. I wouldn't dream of giving out my email address, home address or telephone no. on an open forum but I have no problems with the info in the profile.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean I get a bunch of spam etc. and I seriously doubt that junk mailers would bother to track me through my boat name. I'd quite like to meet other forum members on the water and I don't see how that would happen if I remain anonymous.
