What is the consequence of having fixed magnesium anodes for fresh water and hanging zinc anodes temporarily over the sides when entering sea or brackish water for approximately a week?
Mg anodes are highly reactive and will be consumed more rapidly in salt water.
A calcareous deposit may also build up on protected surfaces
For more than a week or an aggregate of more than 14 days in a year it is recommended that consideration be given to changing them for a more suitable material. ( aluminium in brackish water; aluminium or zinc in salt water)
I cannot see any point in hanging zinc anodes while the magnesium anodes are in place. If anything they may increase the rate of loss of magnesium.
