The same can be achieved, usually, with a bridge wire across the flexible shaft coupling, if it's a solid coupling there normally isn't a need for either.

This worked very well for me - the original copper strip making the bridge across the flexible shaft coupling had cracked!

Yes, agree, but not in my case. No flex coupling but still a high (circa 50ohm} resistance. Don't know why but the "electro elininator" did the trick.
