Annual Maintenance & Servicing Costs: Sunseeker Camargue 47

To be honest I was thinking the same thing and maybe a phantom 40 might be ideal.

I know what you mean re keeping a boat there, but we have family that live over there and it’s the best solution for us.

I’ve been chatting with Chris (capnsensible) who is based over there and it certainly seems doable.

I know you are based in mainland Spain, if you know of anything suitable please let me know.👍

Phantom 38 or 40 would be a good compromise between cost and space. Princess equivalents would work well too.

I'll let you know if I hear of anything suitable.

So another development after having the rug pulled from under my purchase of the 1997 Targa 38........I've had an offer accepted on a 1994 Targa 38. Twin KAD 42s. It needs new canopies (bimini sun shade and full 'winter' covers for fore and aft - those that attach to the radar arch). Does anyone know of any for sale - or a supplier that can provide?

Peter on the Fairline Owners Club may have some contacts.

There's a few

Mastercovers - MasterCovers Ltd | Family Run Business | Marine Trimmers | - probably the cheapest
Flexicovers - Flexicovers – UK boat cover supplier & boat cover manufacturer for luxury yachts - perhaps slightly better quality
C&J - C&J Marine Ltd - Boat Covers, Canopies and Upholstery - also good quality

The one thing I'd recommend is to specify bungee cords for the rear cover, not those horrible "lift the dot" fixings.

Thanks Pete,

I've spoken with Gavin at C&J Marine and he is putting together a quote for me.
Looked at Flexicovers website but the advertised templates don't seem to include a 1994 Targa (only post-2000) - but I'll give them a call to check
Will also contact Mastercovers

Point noted about 'lift the dot' fixings :)

I used Mastercovers for my Princess canopy works, excellent quality so I’d happily recommend them based on my experience. That was a refurb not new supply.
Mastercovers have done some small repairs to my cockpit canopy. They are fitting new carpets throughout in January, and a new Bimini in March. So, while my own boat experience is minimal atm, I have seen their work on more than 1 other boat. Excellent quality, and decent value too. When I was at Deacons I used Quay Canvas as they were on site. Can also recommend them too.

When I first got my boat, an experienced owner on these pages told me that he had done the factory course...this meant that he not only did everything himself but it was also considered to be done by an approved mechanic and didn’t affect the guarantee or anything...unfortunately at the time I ripped the rotator cuff in my shoulder and by the time I healed, the course had ended.
The wife tells me that our annual bill for servicing our small single engine and generator is now about €6000....this is without any major (touch wood) problem.
Obviously the parts are now extremely expensive and the fluids are also eye watering.....but the majority is labour and tax
🙋I do everything myself. Cummins 5.9 qsb, twin dick gearbox, and northern lights generator. I change all the oils and filters, flush with fresh water, and add glycol for winter protection. I drain the fresh water tanks and pipes. This takes 3-4 hours of work. The high-quality oils and filters cost around €150-200€. I would never agree to pay €6,000 for this work.😱
