Anger at boats anchoring overnight

Decent number of boats you had out too. If you can get 10 plus boats out cruiser racing in a mixed fleet on the East Coast you’re doing well.

The crew of the little Hunter made me smile sailing straight past some much larger boats on the way out the creek!

You couldn’t have asked for a better day for sailing than yesterday. We joined in the MYC Montgomery cruise/race which was fun, our tacking battle with a Swan 38 and a Dehler 36 went all the way back to Chatham.

Anyway back to boats anchoring overnight....I didn’t notice any.

:)
Ah thats cause you were enjoying the Sailing and probably minding your own business i say {:)#

Also you were probably NOT reading the FORUM ?

Unfortunately, unlike the WWII scenario - we didn't get to elect a government for the purpose. We elected a government based on a) everyone being fed up to the back teeth with the prevaricating over Brexit and b) party political grounds. No one knew we were electing someone to lead us through the worst crisis in living memory. Who would you have picked? Who would have been your Churchill?

Me? I think I'd have gone with Sir John Major - supported by Wiiliam Hague and I'd have drafted Alistair Campbell in as the media guy and Nicola Sturgeon as foreign sec.
You can thank the election of Boris on the Leader of the Opposition.. Corbyn was unelectable. elections are rarely won, the are almost inevitably lost. Hence why Johnson was hidden as much as possible during the election campaign.

Labour's landslide in the 1945 general election remains one of the greatest shocks in British political history.
How did Winston Churchill, a hugely popular national hero, fail to win?

Not sure the "hugely popular national hero" applies this time either !
labour landslide in 1945 = our beloved NHS

Hey Sy – no worries at all. I have good friends who disagree with me – and vice versa – and sometimes that’s just the way things go. And we’re all still friends, but when this is all done and dusted I challenge anyone to identify retrospectively someone who was fined for staying on their boat overnight in these current conditions. My point is that it is not against the law and therefore you do not need much of a reason to it. If someone thinks that a) it is against the law and b) that they have the right to move you on; challenge it. It is not law. It is guidance.
Whether or not, for example, Falmouth Harbour Commissioners have special powers to restrict boating in Carrick Roads, or closer to home HHA – I would not know – but if anyone asked me to move I would expect clarification of those powers, in writing and which I could take a copy of for potential action against them. Ethics is a different matter. I would not, at the moment for example, go to another marina, but my sitting at anchor has to be less of coronavirus risk to anyone in comparison with the other places I would normally be.
PS – for what it is worth (even better than the drinking excuse) tell them you’re homeless - and all bets are off.
Not sure if the last part of that is supposed to be serious , but in this big brother age all of our addresses are Available to the plod from various sources , so claiming homelessness Is not really an option

One has to wonder just what did the enlightened english voter vote a proven liar surrounded by a self serving group of twats Into power for ?

Think my point was made however - ie Churchill was *chosen* to lead in a crisis; a crisis the country knew about at the time of appointment. Boris was chosen for other reasons and the crisis came along unexpectedly. He would have done well to appoint a cross-party team to handle it, thus removing some of the party politics from the equation.

I am surprised that hendidnt if only to move some of the blame

Have you never been to West Mersea? We usually get more than 10 boats out cruiser racing
We are quite a small club, with just over 100 members with a mix of boats from kayaks, dinghies, fishing boats and cruising boats from 17ft to 32ft. So 10 boats was a good turn out. A combination of great weather and boats having only just gone back in the water after months ashore.
