More tales of cruising Cap Verde <font color=blue><A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.stingo.co.uk>http://www.stingo.co.uk - now cruising nowhere near you</font color=blue>
looking forward to a lot more accounts like that as it'll be a while before you can be clear of the hurricanes. but hang on, weren't you heading fro brazil?
had serious thoughts about not going with the ARC for my next crossing as it rules out the cape verdes... would you go out of your way to visit them in hindsight?
Yep, was heading for Brazil but had to divert to Cap Verde because my forestay chainplate sheered, see the anecdotes from July.
Visiting the Cap Verdes again you ask? YES, YES, YES. There are many boats arriving now waiting for nov/dec to cross and making the most of the islands. I do think they are worth a visit

You paint a negative picture of Mindelo, which matched my memories of the place. So is your recommendation based on cruising around the other islands?
I would go back to the Cap Verdes because during my Atlantic voyage these islands were the first time I felt like a traveller and not a cosseted yachty tourist.
The other island that I visited was what made Cap Verde for me... Mindelo is crap.
The swiss babes walked into Clube Nautico one night and I happened to be playing guitar there that night and they asked if I would play such & such and that's how the conversation started. They were having a break from University
