Can anyone recommend a good safe free downloadable program to recover deleated mobile text messages, and can recovered texts be stored on a pc.
Can text messages on a mobile be copied to a pc?
TIA.

Messages can be exported and saved to a PC. Never thought about it but just tried it now and saved all the incoming text messages. PC and Mobile connected via bluetooth, software supplied by Nokia.

Don't think you will be able to undelete in the way that you can with a PC

So did you copy texts that were already on your phone to pc or was it only texts that came in while phone and pc connected?
What phone file did you open on pc to enable you to see text messages on your pc?
Thanks.

Yes deleted messages can be recovered although not always. Some SIM cards allocate space for messages to be stored and when you delete it it will remain on the card till that space is needed for a new message and is then overwritten and lost. So if it is recent then don't use the SIM any more.

Some SIM cards delete the message completley.

As already said most phones have available software to copy (undeleted) texts to PC. However I have a Sony Experia and at first glance at the software I cannot see the option.

This free app "SMS Backup & Restore" by ritesh sahu from play store does work and allows you to manually or at a set time copy texts to internal or sd storage on your phone as an .xml file & an .xsl file. You can then transfer both types of file to your PC (or send the file in an email) and then open in excell or web browser.

load the handcent sms messaging app has backup option you don't have to register an account to back up messages to sd card . just swipe to the left to find the backupoptions

It does "Backup & [then] Restore", not "Restore Deleted".
There are several apps and PC programs with the words "SMS" and "Restore" or "Recover" in the name, none of them do what the OP wants.

Yes Nigel I know that the app I mentioned does not restore deleted messages. I don't think I said it did and was the reason I put "undeleted" in my reply.

The OP asked more than one question and that was in reply to the one about downloading messages to PC and I gave the whole name so it could be easily found:)

I remember the good old days when SMS messages and phone numbers were saved to the SIM. These days most phones have outgrown the limited storage on SIMs and use the memory of the phone to keep full contact information and also messages. My iPhone 4 seemed to store absolutely every text message I ever recieved or sent. If I got to the end of a "message thread" I could just tap for older messages to be loaded. There is no way a SIM could hold them, unless SIM technology has changed massively. As long as the phone was backed up, the messages would be in the backup. Unlike earlier phones, I never deleted a message on that phone, to see when it filled up, it never did.
I have now got one of those new Androidy things, a Sony Xperia Z1 and am growing to like it, time will tell if this one can keep hold of a massive amount of messages as well. Just had a quick gurgle, it appears to be easy on Androids to backup and restore texts as mentioned elsewhere, but unless you regularly back up your phone and keep the backup files, I don't think you will be able to bring back texts from oblivion.

Further thoughts:
I tried to amend the last message but it didn't work. To save an individual message, maybe you can forward it on to a pc as an email, or ccut and paste the text of the text to an email, then send as mentioned. Easy to do with an iPhone, I am too new to androids and haven't had time to play with it yet.

Thanks all for the useful information. Unfortunatly my android is a cheap chinese job, but I will soon be owning a Galaxy S3 which appears to be more user friendly and have lots more available options.
