And the winner is . . .

I can nearly draw a circle . I mess it up a bit when trying to join it up but my mum says its pretty good .
The colouring in is very good mind you . He hasnt gone over the lines once !

Oh Ian! It's really because, having been out and about since Jan, it's been amusing seeing everyone's (the lockie's) efforts at painting the white tops to their bollards. They've been ordered to do so (Health & Safety - since someone tripped over one) and they were all doing so with varying degrees of success/enthusiasm. We've seen small tops, blobby tops, drippy tops etc and then to see a triangle (and to hear the story behind it) was funny - hence I promised to put in a bit of support. It's a whole new angle on 'Support your local Lock-keeper I guess! Sx

Still don't get why a white shape would be more visible than a black bollard......

If peeps are that blind shouldn't be driving a boat or doing anything else near water.

Reminds me of how a few years back some H&S bod ordered a couple of the bollards at Temple Lock replaced with rings, so that people didn't trip over them. Have you ever tried throwing a line through a ring from a boat....

Getting back on topic, it does look smartly painted but I'm with Apollo on this, if you couldn't already see those bloody big black things, you shouldn't be anywhere near the water's edge.

OK, I'll ask.... Why triangles?

Shows you in which direction to trip.

We're now on our return to the very End of The World at St.John's, I can report that there are many and various interpretations (I assume the instruction was to paint the tops white). Hambledon's triangle is the best - assuming my comment above.

Some have -
circles,
outline of the top profile,
white paint down to the neck,
white all over,
white bollards with black bits.

Not only the lockside bollards, but every bollard within walking distance of the lock have been painted.

Excellent - shows that individualism survives.
