...and if she decides she must have a Motorsailor...

...then can anyone think of an option that is really sub £40k and sub 40'?

I fancy myself as having an encyclopedic knowledge of yachts but apart from Colvics I'm struggling on this one?

Judders - why does she want a motor sailor ?

Penny
(who does NOT want a motor sailor :) but loves the full cockit cover !)

Motorsailor is IMO a state of mind - you are not going fast enough or going in the right direction, so put the engine on and Motorsail / Motor into wind.
If what you really want is an enclosure to give a feeling of safety, then you should look at Pilothouse boats with a centre cockpit such as a Colvic Countess (not that I am biased) :D

Why would you need to think of anything other than Colvic :)
If you have to then maybe:
Fisher
Nauticat
Beneteau Oceanis 36CC
but you will have to up your buget!
or:
Finn Clipper
Northeaster
Steadfast 30

Coaster 33 ketch? I was very happy with one for several years until my sailing partner gave up and I did not feel that I could manage her single handed [with a gammy leg].
Very comfortable boat and sailed well if a little off the wind.
