And another Car transporter falls over

Result, I would think. Fires will cause capsizes when water is used particularly by shore fire brigades (eg the loss of the Normandie) but a capsize puts a lot of load on the lashings and vehicles often contain batteries and fuel.,.
Thanks, it will be interesting to see if there is the equivalent of a MAIB report on this.

"Well, I’m not saying it wasn’t safe, it’s just perhaps not quite as safe as some of the other ones."

Seems they are perfectly safe when operated correctly. However not the sort of ships to operate when ballast tank gauges are not working and gestermate the amount of water in ballast tanks where free surface in tanks is a big big problem. The Portsmouth ship was apparently uprighted by correcting a ballast issue.

Seems these ships become perfectly stable at these extreme angles . Just have to hope that no faulty tank air vents are immersed so leading to more flooding.

And many ports require them to dump the foreign ballast water well offshore and re-fill with local sea water. (I believe this is so that any ballast water that they offload in port won't contain invasive species.) Several of them seem to have come to grief during this re-ballasting operation.

Or nuclear polluted water from Japan.

Nor indeed to estimate the weight of a consignment of Range Rovers at 800kg each and then stack all the cargo on the upper decks with nothing below...

A full f-you Range Rover is around 2,500kg. Even those tacky white stiletto Evoque things are 1,800kg.

Surely; regardless of instruments working, or otherwise; the stevedores would know how to load a ship to something like sensible limits.

I know container loading and order of loading/unloading is very important for maintain the stability or the vessel at all times and I]m sure that Ro Ro ships like car carriers are the same.
