We're currently at anchor in Cala Teulera in Mahon, which up until now has been the only anchorage available in the inlet. As of 1 July, the port authority has deeclared that the anchorage is only available if all the paid for moorings in the port are full or there is adverse weather. There is also a time limit of 3 days maximum stay if the above conditions are met.
This is clearly intended to maximise the business of the companies who hold the franchise for operting the various marinas in the port. We've decided that if they're going to be so unfriendly and grasping, then we'll take our money go elsewhere. We won't be returning to Mahon until they get their act together and be a little more freindly to those of us who don't want to pay silly levels of marina fees.
