anchoring in water 500m+ deep

[ QUOTE ]
You could try contacting Cousin Trestec . Although their yachting ropes come in the usual 100m reels (some up to 300m - smaller diameters) their web site claims their military ropes come in lengths of "several dozens of kilometers". That should be enough! The down side is they don't say what diameter/type these are.

They used to have a distributor in Taunton but since they are a French company they would have a supplier much closer to your boat.

Drop the anchor 4m, put your ball up the mast, and if any one complains, claim the anchor must be dragging

Did you see that programme on tv "The Deadliest Catch"?
Those guys decided to fish in 220mtrs of water and when they recovered the pots it took 4 dustbins to hold the warp - now you say you want to anchor in 500mtrs.

Does anybody know of ANYONE that actually anchors in those depths?

Peter.

Yes, I do though he's yet to try it. But he will

[quoteI have assumed in 500 m of water it will be more than 3 miles offshore, so international, so no-one can claim any money from you!

[/ QUOTE ]

No, no, no! It means that everybody will try to claim money from you!
