Ahoy Shipmates, I've been charged by the Bristol Channel Yachting Association (B.C.Y.A.) to compile a guide to anchorages in the Bristol Channel for inclusion in...

We're very fortunate to have access to over 200 miles of coastline, inundated with many coves, inlets, rivers, bays and estuaries to anchor in.
I'm sure there must be a wealth of untapped knowledge out there regarding these anchorages.
It would be a big ask for an individual to know of every single anchorage in the channel, with this in mind I'd like to invite you, one and all, who have personally used anchorages to share them with me.
For the purpose of this guide I have considered the Bristol Channel to be East of an imaginary line between Cape Cornwall on the South Side and St. Davids Head on the North side and up channel as far as Sharpness...
Thus allowing anchorages as far West as Milford Haven and St Ives, which are attainable by a yacht in a few tides from up channel.

From the North, East or West... Paying close attention to your sounding device...
Always proceed with caution and at slow speed...
Anchor Drop... To the West side of Angle Bay with the lifeboat slip open to view...
Buoying your anchor is strongly advised especially in a traditionally used anchorage where redundant mooring ground tackle may be present...

Distance to nearest hostelry... The Point House public house is located on the West side of Angle Bay and is a short row ashore, there is also a pub located in Angle village which is about a half mile walk...
